Chairman Responsibilities

               

ARBOR DAY CHAIRMAN

Responsible for coordinating with the City of Mission Viejo to plant a tree or trees in honor of Arbor Day.  Shall coordinate with the City and the Club for a planting date and arrange for the ceremony.

 

ARTS ALIVE FESTIVAL CHAIRMAN

Responsible for coordinating with the City of Mission Viejo to participate in the Arts Alive Festival, a two-day event usually held in April of each year.  Shall provide information on our Club and organize demonstrations, activities or other ways to promote club membership within the community.

 

AWARDS CHAIRMAN

Responsible for club award submissions.  Is to be familiar with the award information provided on the CGCI website, provide club reminders of award due dates and is a single point of contact for members requiring assistance with award preparation.

 

COMMUNITY ROSE GARDEN CHAIRMAN

Responsible for coordinating the rose garden team for the ongoing maintenance of the rose garden at Florence Joyner Olympiad Park in Mission Viejo.  The rose garden team meets one day a month to prune, feed and generally maintain the rose garden.

 

GARDEN THERAPY CHAIRMAN

Responsible for coordinating community outreach projects and assembling a team of Club members that will take responsibility for the implementation of such projects that have been approved by the General Board.  Projects are listed on our website and in our Yearbook.

HISTORIAN/PHOTOGRAPHER

Responsible for taking photographs at Club meetings and field trips and transmitting them to the Website Chairman for posting.

 

HORTICULTURE CHAIRMAN

Responsible for presenting horticulture tips at each Club meeting (excluding field trips).  This can involve research on a specific plant or garden-related subject and presenting it at the meeting.  The objective is to educate the Club members on garden-related subjects.

 

HOSPITALITY CHAIRMAN

Responsible for coordinating volunteers to provide refreshments and centerpieces for the refreshment table at general meetings and other special events and coordinating setup and cleanup crews for each Club meeting.  Responsible for coordinating refreshments at special Club events such as District meetings.

 

INSPIRATION CHAIRMAN

 Responsible for presenting a brief inspirational message at each of the Club’s meetings (excluding field trips).

 

MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN

Responsible for the collection of all membership dues.  Shall maintain an accurate record of the members of the Club and provide same to the Executive Board and the Yearbook and Notifications Chairmen.  At meetings, responsible for passing out Club name tags, maintaining the sign-in book and introducing visitors and/or new members.

 

NATIONAL GARDEN WEEK CHAIRMAN

National Garden Week is usually held the first week in June of each year.  Chairman is responsible for contacting various locations within the community (i.e. City Hall, Library, etc.) in order to promote National Garden Week with floral arrangements and Club information.  Responsible for enlisting Club members to create floral arrangements to be displayed at the pre-arranged locations.

 

NOTIFICATIONS CHAIRMAN

Responsible for notifying Club members of all Club meetings, field trips and special events via e-mail or regular mail.

 

PUBLICITY CHAIRMAN

Responsible for publishing notice of our Club meetings in local newspapers.  Responsible for contacting the media to notify them of any Club special events that would be newsworthy.

 

WEBSITE CHAIRMAN

Responsible for maintaining Website and posting all pertinent information.

 

YEARBOOK CHAIRMAN

Responsible for compilation of all information and distribution of the Club’s Yearbook.
